SSEES awarded Platinum at the UCL Sustainability Awards
6 September 2017
We are proud to announce that SSEES was awarded Platinum in the Office category at the UCL Sustainability Awards yesterday. The Awards celebrated UCL’s commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and looking at ways of being ‘greener’. SSEES this year has installed swift boxes outside the building, introduced a bug hotel and encouraged all staff and students to partake in the Big Switch Off campaign, amongst a range of other activities designed to save energy and resources.
The awards themselves are made of up-cycled teak, which was taken during the refurbishment of the Bloomsbury Theatre. All winners also received a small cactus to represent the endurance of the Green Impact project.
This was a result of a great team effort and we would like to thank everyone who supported the Green Impact Project this year, but special thanks go to Lilla Bettiol, our Green Champion, for all her hard work on coordinating this. If you would like to take part in next year’s project or have ideas on how to make SSEES more sustainable, please contact Lilla.
