UCL Arts & Humanities Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony 2024

On a drizzly Wednesday 22 May 2024, over 400 graduates gathered in the spectacular Grade I listed Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre along the River Thames. Despite the weather, the spirits of the soon-to-be graduates were undampened, and excitement filled the air.

The UCL Arts & Humanities graduation ceremony began just after 11:45 am in the main auditorium. Presided over by Professor Anthony Smith, Vice-Provost (Faculties), the ceremony featured a faculty address by Professor Stella Bruzzi, Executive Dean of Arts & Humanities. Each Head of Department gave an inspiring speech before presenting their graduates with their awards. Among them, Prof Richard Mole, SSEES Director, spoke on behalf of the UCL SSEES graduates.

SSEES student Katya Brodie, who graduated with an International Masters in Economy, State and Society: History and Society MA, was chosen within the Faculty to deliver the student speech, celebrating their collective hard work and achievements (main image).

Following the ceremony, graduates, family, friends, and faculty staff gathered for celebratory drinks on the terrace, reminiscing and taking photos against the wonderful backdrop of the London views. Dr Ben Noble remarked, “Huge congratulations to everybody from SSEES graduating today, it’s a huge achievement and I wish you all the best for your next steps. Please do stay in touch. Congratulations!”
