Module description

This module aims to continue the study of probability and statistics beyond the basic concepts, to provide further study of probability theory, in particular as it relates to multivariate random variables, and to introduce formal concepts and methods in statistical estimation.

This module has now reached full capacity for 2024/25 and no further registrations can be accommodated.

STAT0005 is specified as a formal option within the MEng Mathematical Computation programme and for third and fourth year undergraduates from the Department of Mathematics. Students from these programmes who have taken the standard prerequisite should simply register for STAT0005 on Portico and await a decision. Students from these programmes who do not satisfy the standard prerequisites must additionally consult a member of staff in the Department of Statistical Science.
