STAT0029 Statistical Design of Investigations

Module description

This module aims to provide an introduction to the statistical aspects relating to the design of experimental and observational studies, and to introduce associated methods of statistical analysis.

Standard prerequisites

Knowledge of introductory probability and statistical theory, and the associated necessary mathematical theory.

Registration process

STAT0029 is specified as a formal option within the following postgraduate programmes:

  • MSc Computational Statistics and Machine Learning;
  • MSc Data Science and Machine Learning.

Students from these programmes should simply register for STAT0029 on Portico and await a decision. It is not necessary to register separately with a member of staff in the Department of Statistical Science (successful admission to the programme already demonstrates that the prerequisites can be met).

STAT0029 is NOT offered as an elective.
