STAT0032 Introduction to Statistical Data Science

Module description

This module aims to provide a general background on fundamental statistical methods and applications in data science.

Standard prerequisites

Knowledge of introductory probability and statistical theory, and the associated necessary mathematical theory.

Registration process

STAT0032 is specified as a formal option within the following postgraduate programmes:

  • MSc Data Science for Cultural Heritage;
  • MSc Risk and Disaster Science.

The eligibilty of MSc Data Science for Cultural Heritage students will be determied via a test organised by their parent department at the beginning of Term 1. Students from the MSc Risk and Disaster Science programme must consult a member of staff in the Department of Statistical Science, who will confirm whether they have the necessary prerequisites.

STAT0032 is NOT offered as an elective.
