Modular programmes (Postgraduate Taught only)

Fees are charged for the modules registered on your Portico account. If you interrupt or withdraw in the first 2 weeks of Term 1, you won’t pay a fee.

Fee liability when you return to UCL

If you interrupt, you won’t be charged more than 100% of your programme fees, unless you are registered as a Repeating student (where different fee charges will apply).

Students interrupting and returning in a different academic year are liable for fee increases of up to 5% annually.

Undergraduates

A 25% fee charge applies in Term 1, another 25% in Term 2 and the remaining 50% in Term 3.

At the point of interruption, you must have paid all fee instalments for deadlines already passed, but you won’t have to pay for future instalments until you return to study.

Postgraduates

When you return to study, your remaining fees will be calculated pro rata, depending on your Return Date and whether you need to repeat any study.

Fees advice and support

Once your fees have been calculated, if you’ve overpaid you may be eligible for a fee refund, which you can claim through Portico.

If you receive funding through the Student Loans Company, please visit Funding information for interrupting and withdrawing students to find out more about how to make sure your tuition fee loan is correct when you return to study.

If you have a query about your fees, please contact UCL's Student Fees team.
