About Bikram

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?

I really enjoyed my university experience; the first year was a massive adjustment and UCL was such a huge and daunting place, but by the second year I felt less like a headless chicken running around trying to figure everything out, I’d joined a couple of societies and made friends, which really helped me find a sense of belonging.

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

The best part of my job is interacting with students and getting to know them as they embark on their academic journey. I also enjoy working with academic staff and professional service staff to help provide students with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate their first year of university. The transition from school to university can be overwhelming, so being able to provide a non-judgmental space for students to reflect on what they want to gain from their student experience and feel heard can be really rewarding.  I find I learn a lot from my students as well!

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

I worked in HE Sport Development for almost 7 years but I am not a ‘sporty’ person! I prefer my sport in the form of adventure holidays, or from the stands/comfort of my couch!
