Making better use of our space: new tool coming soon

UCL students will soon be able to locate available study space at the click of a button thanks to new technology being rolled out across campus. 

New technology has been placed under desks throughout UCL Library Services’ study spaces. The devices use infra-red technology to detect if a desk is available or in use. Soon this will be used in the UCL Go! mobile app to show students where to find available study spaces.

The technology is also being rolled out across UCL’s learning and teaching spaces (both centrally bookable and departmentally bookable) and will help UCL departments make the best use of their space and also provide UCL Estates team with reliable data on usage and trends over time.
