InBetween: A Latinx Takeover at UCL East

28 September 2024, 5:00 pm–9:00 pm

three women in their bedroom, two on the bed doing another's makeup. They are all dressed in black like they will be going on a night out.

Our East Bank partners V&A East are taking over our UCL East Marshgate building on Saturday 28 Sept for a free night of music, film and performances celebrating Latinx creative talent flourishing in east London. Join us for InBetween: A Latinx Takeover to explore ideas of place, communal care, resistance and the in-between space the Latinx diaspora is often forced to inhabit.

This event is free.

InBetween: A Latinx Takeover is the first event under V&A East’s newly launched live programme strand Back2Back, a creative space to experiment with new formats for V&A East’s future programming when it opens two new free cultural destinations, V&A East Storehouse and V&A East Museum, on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next year.

As the programme takes over our UCL East Marshgate building, expect DJ sets from east London-based Latinx queer club night 2C PERREA, live performances from Colombian singer-songwriter Montañera, multi-disciplinary artists Daniel Rey, Nina González-Park, José García Oliva and Diasporas NOW with Paola Estrella and Kianí del Valle.

Join discussions from online bookstore Romancero Books, photographers Fernanda Liberti, Michele Baron and 2C Perrea, plus a specially curated selection of short artist and non-fiction films presented by Cinema Mentiré in collaboration with Spectra.

Popola, artist and founder of CALACA PRESS, Pedro Reséndez and artist Francisca Sosa López also join the line-up for hands-on workshops from dance and zinemaking to papier-mâché mango making and painting, alongside Lucia Pizzani, Rebeca Romero and Francisca Gajardo, who will be showcasing audiovisual, multi-media and VR work.

We just can't wait to host this East Bank collaboration with our partners V&A East - see you there!
