ex-USS Trustee Jane Hutton on Today

Colleagues may have heard Prof Jane Hutton (Warwick) on BBC's Today Radio Programme (link - minute 19:30-24:00). She was removed as a USS Trustee after asking questions about the valuation methodology of USS which she comments was "not of a quality I am happy with". 

Prof Hutton says that

“"my best estimate of what would happen if you made all the corrections to the quality I would like would be that it would show the scheme as being substantially in surplus".

The obvious question is if this is so, why are our contributions (and that of the employers) being driven sky-high by USS Ltd? 

And what can we do about it?
