Professor Eugene Makeyev
WIBR Seminar
'Post-transcriptional
mechanisms coordinating gene expression in developing brain'
Professor Eugene Makeyev
(MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King's College)
Host: Dr. Alexandra Chittka
Eugene received his Ph.D. degree from Helsinki University, Finland and carried out his postdoctoral work at Harvard University, USA. He started his own lab in Singapore in 2008 and moved to King's in 2013.
Research in his lab is focused on the role of post-transcriptional RNA processing in eukaryotic gene regulation.
In his talk, Eugene will discuss their recent studies suggesting that coupling between alternative splicing and cellular RNA quality control mechanisms orchestrate large-scale changes in gene expression during neuronal development.
