Thomas Partridge

Resident slave-owner, owner of Potosi and Flamstead in St James. Dead by 1760. Father-in-law of John Tharp IV (q.v.) who married Elizabeth Partridge (d. 1780) daughter of Thomas Partridge in 1765, and reportedly also of William Blake, speaker of the Assembly in Jamaica, who married another daughter of Thomas Partridge named Elizabeth Ann or Anne. Thomas Partridge's son Thomas Partridge jun. died c. 1764: the Potosi and Flamstead estates then passed to his sisters. Thomas Partridge I was also either brother-in-law or father-in-law of Richard James the elder (q.v.) who married Mary daughter of Thomas Partridge (Richard and Mary James' first child was born c. 1713 and Mary James died in 1756, implying she was closer to Thomas Partridge I in generation than to his other known children).

Thomas Partridge was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 900 acres of land in St James.
