Sarah Askew and John Nicol were the persons involved in Privy Council case number 1792_575 (judged in 1837), which describes him as 'late of the city and parish of Kingston in Jamaica but at present resident near Edinburgh who has survived Elizabeth Nicol his wife lately deceased.'
