Biography

Resident slave-owner on St Kitts, shown in Samuel Baker's 1753 map as 'Richard Willson'in St Mary.

  1. Will of Hon. Richard Wilson Chief Justice of St Kitts proved 04/10/1760. He left his wife Elizabeth an annuity of £250 p.a., a lump-sum of £250 and the right to live in his house at Basseterre for her widowhood, with the use and service of 'such 6 of my negro slaves' as she should choose. He left £1000 to his son John, £1500 to his daughter Jane, £500 each to his three married daughters, £100 p.a. to his daughter Ann Greatheed and £300 each to his six grandchildren. He left £140 p.a. currency to his son Thomas Wilson. He entailed his [unspecified] estates, and left separately the enslaved people, to his son Richard Wilson for life and then to Richard's heirs.
