In 2019 Ezra Horbury received a Beacon Bursary for some trans writing workshops. In 2020 Horbury and Yao published and edited the participants' writing as 'Transcribed: An Anthology of Trans Writing'

This project came out of the Trans Studies, Trans Lives symposium. The 2019 Beacon Bursary funded 'Writing Trans Lives', bringing together aspiring trans/non-binary writers with established trans/non-binary writers through three workshops, a public reading and a publication. Established writers provided practical advice and developed aspiring writers’ expertise and experience at writing their own narratives.

Dr Ezra Horbury was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of English Language and Literature.
