HomeEuropean and International Social and Political Studies (EISPS) modules offer multidisciplinary insight and perspective to students with an interest in political and social science, international relations, political theory, modern history, law and political philosophy, in regard to Europe and the wider world.
In addition to the set of tailored EISPS modules on problems and topics in contemporary politics, political history, political philosophy and the history of ideas, students have access to a great variety of modules from subject areas across UCL, ranging from History, Politics and Geography to Economics and Law.
You will be able to draw on UCL's acclaimed academic resources and have the opportunity to participate in a thoroughly international and intellectually distinguished student community. UCL's central London location permits access to an extraordinarily rich and diverse cultural life.
Teaching methods and means of assessment vary, consisting mostly of a combination of seminars and lectures and of written examination with assessed coursework. For most EISPS modules, assessment is available for term-only students. Modules of an advanced nature may have as a prerequisite appropriate previous study in the area.
Please note that this guide lists a range of popular modules offered as a representative sample. It is not exhaustive and, since the guide is published ahead of time, module options may have changed, been deleted or replaced. If you have very specific study needs or require confirmation of module availability for 2024/25, you are strongly advised to get in touch with the relevant Affiliate contact, listed on this subject page, before making an application.
Please note: Some of the modules listed may only be available in either the Fall Term or the Spring Term and not both. See our website for up-to-date information.
A list of modules offered directly by European and International Social and Political Studies can be found on the EISPS List of Modules (2023-24).
