BLAST - Basic Local Alignment Search Tool

A BLAST search was conducted on Human Hsp90 alpha 1, beta and various representative proteins.

All isoforms of Hsp90 contain an N – terminus high affinity ATP binding site and a C – terminal protein binding domain. Most forms are around the 730aa length with two exceptions, the Escherichia coli form and the Homo sapiens alpha one isoform. The human alpha one isoform is 854aa in length due to an extended N – terminus, although its ATP binding site and protein binding domain are similar in location and size to the other isoforms. The E. coli protein is 624aa long but still maintains an ATP binding site at the N terminus. However this homolog’s protein binding domain differs from the common HSP90 domain with an E-value of 5.12e-97, very similar but also distinct.
