Memorial inscription: "IN MEMORY OF THE HONBLE GEORGE GUN MUNRO, SENIOR MEMBER OF HIS MAJESTY'S COUNCIL, ASSISTANT JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF JUDICATURE, AND PUBLIC TREASURER OF THE COLONY OF GRENADA, HE DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 5th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1829, AGED 5O YEARS. Below: – Crest : An eagle with wings raised. Arms : Argent an eagle's head erased. Motto : " DREAD GOD."
Illegitimate son of George Gun Munro of Poyntzfield (1743-1806). Residuary legatee in will of his stepmother Justina Gun Munro nee Dunbar (proved 23/08/1826) as Treasurer of the Island of Grenada "from whom I have ever experienced filial affection and the most liberal attention to my comfort in point of pecuniary circumstances".
Donor to Fortrose Academy in the Scottish Highlands in 1810, where he was "for several years a most attentive pupil". This source also identifies him as the son of the late George Gun Munro of Poyntzfield. The minutes for 03/12/1810 state: "The Revd. Mr Arthur Minister of Kirkmichael & Cullicudden, one of the Visitors of this Academy, transmitted to the Secretary a Letter from George Gun Munro Esqr. Treasurer of the Island of Grenada (Son of the late George Gun Munro Esqr. of Poyntzfield & who was for several years a most attentive pupil in the Fortrose Academy,) a List of Donations given & obtained by Mr Gun Munro in the Island of Grenada."
