Nathaniel Snell

London merchant and partner in George Baillie and Co. (q.v.) and then in Lang, Turing and Co., a predecessor of Chauncy, Lang (q.v.). Son of William Snell (1719-1779) and hence brother of Charles Snell Chauncey ne Snell (d. 1809, q.v.), and uncle of Nathaniel Snell Chaunc[e]y and Charles Snell Chauncy (each of whom q.v.).

1. Born 13/07/1765. A Nathaniel Snell married Catherine Anne otherwise Anne Thornton at St Marylebone 13/12/1828.

2. Death of Nathaniel Snell registered Brighton Q1 1840; burial at All Saints Edmonton aged 75 14/03/1840; Will of Nathaniel Snell of Gloucester Place proved 01/04/1840. The will describes John Snell (q.v.) as his half-brother, Charles Snell Chauncy (ne Snell) as his brother and Charles Snell Chauncy as his nephew and Nathaniel Snell Chauncy as his nephew and godson. He left to the two latter men his plantation called Mount William or Dussablon [?] in Grenada including the services of any apprentices upon it, as tenants in common, provided they paid his estate £3000.
