Son of Herbert Newton Jarrett IV (1780-1811) and Anne Stephens (the daughter of James Stephens of Hinton-on-the-Green Oxforshire and Camerton Somerset and Elizabeth Paterson Wallen), and brother of John Jarrett III (q.v.). Stephen and John Jarrett's father was the cousin of Herbert Newton Jarrett V (1797-1879) (q.v.) (the respective fathers of Herbert Newton Jarrett IV and V were John Jarrett II (1746-1809) and Herbert Newton Jarrett III, who were half-brothers). John Jarrett (1746-1809) had owned the Guilsboro estate in Jamaica for which his grandson Stephen Jarrett was paid compensation.
Born November 5 1805, Eton and Magdalen Oxford; died unmarried at Clifton aged 50, left his personal estate to Charles Berners Jarrett, his cousin.
Second son of Herbert Newton Jarrett of Nursling Hampshire; matriculated Magdalen College Oxford 25/04/1823 aged 18, MA 1827, died unmarried 12/10/1855. Will of Stephen Jarrett gentleman [formerly of Clifton but now] of Fisherton Anger in Wiltshire proved 03/11/1855.
