1786 - 1864
Given as Abraham Garrett in the Parliamentary Papers, co-claimant with his father-in-law Thomas Mewburn (q.v.) for the compensation for Cumings Lodge in British Guiana. Shown as awardee but there is evidence of mercantile interception by Hall M'Garel. Originally a Liverpool merchant but apparently after successive bankruptcies rebuilt his fortune in British Guiana post-Emancipation, dying there in 1864.
Marriage of Abraham Garnett and Anne Mewburn, Liverpool 30/11/1816. Abraham Garnett was shown as a partner in the Liverpool firm of James Willasey and Co. (q.v.) until its dissolution on 31/12/1811; Abraham Garnett of Liverpool was bankrupted in 1815. Abraham Garnett was shown as a partner with William Davidson at Liverpool and London until the dissolution of that partnership in 1822; Abraham Garnett the former partner of Williams Davidson was [again] bankrupt in March 1822, followed shortly by the firm itself.
